The FIPP UNY Master of Education Policy Study Program is the only study program in Indonesia. With regional autonomy and educational autonomy, it actually requires policy analysts who are experts in national and regional policies according to the uniqueness of the region. Alhamdulillah, in 2022 the FIPP UNY Master of Education Policy Study Program received permission from the Minister of Education and Culture. In February 2023, the FIPP UNY Master of Education Policy Study Program began accepting new students for the first batch. On this occasion, the FIPP UNY Master of Education Policy Study Program offered cooperation to the Regent of Gunung Kidul to assign or send educational staff or teachers who can pursue Master's studies in the FIPP UNY Education Policy Study Program.

The arrival of the FIPP UNY Master of Education Policy Study Program team was warmly welcomed by the Regent of Gunungkidul, Mr. Sunaryanto. He emphasized that education is indeed very necessary in this era. However, sometimes educational theory and practice differ, resulting in different orientations in arguments and opinions. Gunung Kidul Regency has good and qualified human resources, but sometimes the workload is too heavy. The Regent of Gunung Kidul conveyed the future orientation within the local government to pursue education as high as at least a doctoral degree. Based on the current situation, the importance of analysis and research for policy-making is increasingly felt. The Regent of Gunung Kidul hopes that this collaboration can be followed up.
