Master of Education Policy Students Participate in Observational Studies at SMP N 1 Srandakan

Srandakan, November 17, 2023 - The Master of Education Policy Program of Yogyakarta State University conducted an observational study at SMP N 1 Srandakan on the course "School and Society." This course was taught by Dr. Ariefa Efianingrum, M.Si., a lecturer in the education policy study program, with 7 master of education policy students.
The primary objective of this observational study was to delve deeper into the concepts of school partnership, school effectiveness, and school culture at SMP N 1 Srandakan. Dr. Ariefa Efianingrum emphasized the importance of understanding the dynamics of schools interacting with the community and the factors that influence educational success at the junior high school level.
The arrival of the Master of Education Policy students was warmly welcomed by the teachers and staff of SMP N 1 Srandakan. They were not only given the opportunity to observe classroom learning but also engaged in discussions with experienced educators.
One of the key moments of this visit was the meeting with the main resource person, namely the principal of SMP N 1 Srandakan, Mr. Mide Piyama, S.Pd. He welcomed the students with great enthusiasm and shared insights on various aspects that were the focus of the observation study.
In an interactive discussion, Mr. Mide Piyama explained SMP N 1 Srandakan's efforts to establish partnerships with various parties, including parents, community organizations, and local government agencies. He also shared his experiences regarding the strategies he has implemented to improve school effectiveness and strengthen a positive school culture.
Dr. Ariefa Efianingrum stated that this visit provided valuable insights for students in understanding the dynamics of the educational environment at the junior high school level. Through direct interaction with educational practitioners, students were able to experience the realities of the field and gain insights beyond theory alone.
This observational study is expected to positively contribute to the development of more effective and sustainable education policies. The students hope to apply the insights they gain in the classroom and design policies that support improving the quality of education in various schools.
